Gold monosulphate, AuSO4

Evaporation of a solution in concentrated sulphuric acid at 250° C. of the so-called acid auryl sulphate, AuOHSO4, yields large crystals of the monosulphate. It is characterized by its scarlet-red colour. Exposure to moist air changes it into the black hydrated monoxide.
