Double Salts of Auric thiocyanate

Only complex derivatives of the thiocyanate are known, such as potassium aurithiocyanate, KAu(CNS)4, formed by the interaction of potassium thiocyanate and auric chloride in presence of potassium carbonate. It is decomposed by water. The corresponding sodium aurithiocyanate forms a pale orange-red powder.
